Encouraging Music

THE SONG THAT LAUNCHED  A WEBSITE

May God bless you as you listen to this song of His love for you!

I love writing songs celebrating what God has done for me.  During Lent 2010 I read one of Dr. Bill Gaultierre’s wonderful devotionals, “The Cross on Jesus’ Back,” on SoulShepherding.com.    That title started singing in my head, and I could see Jesus carrying that heavy cross.

I saw Jesus . . .He picked me up on His shoulders and carried me, a fatherless child, with all my burdens.  He took my shame on Himself.  He died for all the things I have struggled with.  By His wounds I am healed now and in the life to come (Isaiah 53:5).

After I wrote Dr. Gaultierre about the song, he said he might create a link from his website at SoulShepherding to my song.  He planned to write an article that would also appear on CBN.com.

The problem was–I didn’t have a website to link to!

I’m a musician and a teacher, not a techie.  But I began to see the internet as an opportunity to encourage others in their faith by sharing songs, kids’ musicals, stories, and devotionals that the Lord has given me.

And here we are in cyberspace at  SatterfieldMusic.com where I hope you will find Encouraging Words and Music.

May God bless you as you listen to this song of His love for you!  You can read more of  the story behind the song on CBN.com at The Song of the Cross.

Please read Dr. Gaultierre’s inspiring devotional “The Cross on Jesus’ Back.”

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for my husband Robert, my son Thomas and his band, my family and friends, my life coach Eric Falcinella, and Drs. Bill and Kristi Gaultierre for all the encouragement you have given me to create this song and share the Good News through this website ministry.

THE CROSS ON JESUS’ BACK

How lovely on the mountains

Are the feet of Him who brings Good News!

How lovely on the mountains

Are the feet of Him who brings Good News!

Where I could not go,  what I could not do,

Jesus picked me up and brought me through.

For I was the cross on Jesus’ back.

I watched His dusty feet

As He stumbled along the tortured track

All the way up Calvary.

But still His arms were strong

To carry me on

On His bleeding back.

He heard the mocking laughs;

He bore the brutal slash,

When He could have just turned back.

I was the cross on Jesus’ back–

The heavy weight of sin.

Helpless, I heard His forgiving words

As the nails were pounded in.

They hung Him there to die,

A living sacrifice,

Gave His perfect life for me.

He conquered death and hell

(What I deserved full well)

And His love poured down on me.

Now I have new life; I have been transformed

By His resurrection power.

His Spirit leads the way; I walk by faith today.

He gives me grace for every hour.

How lovely on the mountains

Are the feet of Him who brings Good News!

How lovely on the mountains

Are the feet of Him who brings Good News!

Where I could not go, what I could not do,

Jesus picked me up and brought me through.

How lovely . . .

The Centurion’s Faith (from Matthew 8:5-13)

When Jesus entered Capernaum, a Roman centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, in terrible pain!”

“I will come and heal him,” Jesus said.

“Lord,” the centurion replied, “I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be healed.

“For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.”

Hearing this, Jesus was amazed.

Then Jesus told the centurion, “Go. As you have believed, let it be done for you.”

And the servant was healed at that very moment.

ONLY SAY THE WORD

We are not worthy,

But You are worthy, Lord!

All power and glory

Belong to You.

We are Your servants.

You are our Master now.

Call us and send us–

Your will we will do!

Only say the word, and Your power reveal;

Only say the word, and lives will be healed!

Over all time and space

You pour out amazing grace!

Whatever You want, You’ll help us to do.

We walk on in faith, giving glory to You.

As we have believed in You,

Let it be done.

Lord, we believe;

Help our unbelief.

Cleanse our minds,

Fill our eyes

With the glory of the Son!

Only say the word, and Your power reveal;

Only say the word, and lives will be healed!

Over all time and space

You pour out amazing grace!

Whatever You want, You’ll help us to do.

We walk on in faith, giving glory to You.

As we have believed in You,

Let it be done.
